It’s About Time

Kansas church liable in gay Marine funeral protest | Reuters

These folks have had it coming for a long time. I can’t tell you how painful it is to see people who claim to represent God do such a thing as this at funerals. I wonder if this will open a floodgate of lawsuits against them. It should.

"Evangelicals Urged to ‘Galvanize’ Support Around Romney" …huh?

Conservatives, Evangelicals Urged to ‘Galvanize’ Support Around Romney | Christianpost.com

Are you kidding me? Really… come on now are these folks for real?

This is a man who courted the gay vote because he was “with them” when he was running against Ted Kennedy. He declared he was no Reagan conservative. He made it clear that he was opposed to the NRA AND that that he was pro-choice (in no uncertain terms). Now we are told that he is supposed to be the one we Christians should “galvanize” support around.

I’m sorry but I think this “rots out loud.” I can put the Mormon business aside (for now) but this is a “flip flopper” if I ever saw one. He is the prototypical politician that goes with whatever way the wind is blowing or what will get him elected. He seems to be a real chameleon. This is just more of the same. Hear me Franklin Graham, James Dobson and Tony Perkins: “Have you lost your minds…I will not vote for this man!”

Remember what they did with the waffler Kerry? They had a field day with him and rightly so. Who needs someone who obviously has no real personal convictions. I don’t. At least Guliani is upfront about his views on abortion and gayness. This man is not. I believe this all just reveals that the politicizing of “Kingdom” work doesn’t work.

If this is our man then go ahead and get ready for Hilliary because he can’t beat her. If this is the guy that Christian “leadership” says is our candidate then I think we need new Christian “leadership.” At least we need a new direction because this is messed up.

Peace, love and cheese grits,

Jesse

Are Mega-Preachers Scandal-Prone? – TIME

The world takes notice of the current insanity within Pentecostal Christianity. I would submit that lack of accountability is the reason for all of this. Balanced article and worth a serious look.

The Upcoming Elections…Lord Help Us

October 3, 2007

Another presidential election is upon us. Everyone is getting stirred up. The polarizing intensifies. The mud slinging is starting. Who will be the nominee? Who should Christians vote for?

I have come to abhor it. You heard me right. I am one Christian conservative who sees all this as a huge disaster. For the next year we will have to listen to all the shallow nonsense that passes for campaigning in this new age. It will soon degenerate into a mindless attempt to see how negative each can become about the other. Not to mention that a bunch of pretenders will attempt to convince us Christians that we should vote for them because they care.

Let me say that I am a conservative. I have never in my life voted for a Democrat. I will also let you know I voted for Bush twice (well, four times if you include Bush I). I had such high hopes. Alas, they were dashed. We did make some progress on the abortion issue but…

Government spending and mismanagement has been so out of control I have pined for the days of… Bill Clinton. No need to clean your glasses. I wrote it. Sure, he was a moral reprobate but the man could run a government. The war has been a complete disaster. I can’t imagine the end game for that mess now. Iran will win Gulf War II. Are we more secure now than we were? Well, at least we added a great big new bureaucracy to scare the terrorists with. Illegal immigration has been ignored and the laws uninforced for years. Did I mention open borders? Harriet Myers…!? Dubai running our ports? Republican conservatism is bankrupt.

Who do we vote for? I’m not so sure that I will put much stock in it this time around. I will do my duty. I will vote and it will not be for anyone who believes it is alright to kill unborn babies or that homosexuals should be allowed to marry. But I will not permit myself to think that this is Kingdom business. It ain’t.

We have become so enamored of politicians that we forget that the real answer and hope is Jesus. It is not the Republican Party or even conservatism. It is not putting enough “values” oriented politicians in Washington DC. How many of these values champions turn out to be hypocrites? Quite a few!

The coming Kingdom is the real solution to this world’s dilemmas. We need to get people born again… discipled… excited about advancing the Kingdom. The abortion problem, the homosexual agenda, and the war on the family are real issues but electing a better Caesar is not the solution to these ills of society. We need to lift up a crucified Jesus as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords to a world that will be judged by Him one day soon. America needs Jesus!
